How are our oceans changing? What impacts will climate change have on our marine life and on us as a coastal community? These questions and more will be explored and answered at the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre Marine Science Forum.
The Forum is being held on 2-3 May 2015 at Club Sapphire in Merimbula and will address the theme Our Changing Oceans, in particular considering changes in climate and species population in relation to the Sapphire Coast.
Running over two days, the Forum will feature six marine scientists invited to present diverse research findings. Topics will include tropical invaders; ocean acidification; how climate change affects our beaches and much more.
The Forum is unique in that it brings six highly regarded marine scientists from across Australia to present to community members in a relatively relaxed and informal setting. The science is based on the very latest in research and presented with high quality graphics and visuals. It brings the research story to life and allows the audience to better understand how the data is analysed.
Making the most of this fantastic opportunity for locals to get together with professional researchers, there will be outdoor activities run on Saturday afternoon to allow participants to explore the beautiful Sapphire Coast and the science behind it.
Saturday night presents an excellent opportunity to wine, dine and network at Wheelers Restaurant in Merimbula (additional cost, bookings required). The dinner is a great chance to meet the speakers and have a fun night out.
