Join a panel of Sydney’s best and brightest scientists as they reveal the wonderful, weird and sometimes hilarious truths of what science is like ‘behind-the-scenes’.
In Situ Science returns to the Camelot Lounge on Thursday 9 August 2018 from 6-10 pm to celebrate National Science Week and the Sydney Science Festival with a live podcast recording.
Dr James O’Hanlon from In Situ Science and the University of New England will introduce a panel of Sydney’s best scientists and science communicators, to explore the ridiculous ways that science collides with day-to-day life.

Panel members will discuss important topics including the imminent uprising of introverts, whether the glass ceiling is really just a walk-through aquarium, and why you shouldn’t refer to your first born as a ‘pilot study’ in public.

About the scientists
Sophie Callabretto is a mathematician and fluid dynamics researcher from Macquarie University. Her research investigates the complex ways that fluids in motion behave and how these can be modelled and understood mathematically.
Deiter Hochuli is an ecologist and invertebrate zoologist from the University of Sydney. His research examines how animals survive in both natural and urban environments, and what we can do to help them.
Naomi Koh Belic is a chemist and cell biologist from the University of Technology, Sydney. She works to understand how stem cells work inside our bodies and how they can help fight disease.
Michael Kasumovic is an evolutionary biologist turned educational entrepreneur from the University of New South Wales. His research covers everything including how spiders compete for mates, how people interact with video games, and how science can be better taught in classrooms.
