The Orange-Cowra-Cabonne Science Hub, convened by the CORRIDOR project, will stage a stack of events across the region during National Science Week to encourage an interest in science and encourage people of all ages to be fascinated by the world we live in.
Orange-Cowra-Cabonne Science Hub is the community partnership charged with convening science engagement experiences in the Central West of NSW. During Science Week the Science Hub will present five events in a number of venues across the region backed by Inspiring Australia.

SCINEMA Film Festival
Thursday 08.08.2019 – Friday 09.08.2019 – Saturday 10.08.2019
A collection of award-winning short science films will be screened for free at three venues across the region on the 8-10 August. Screenings starting at 6.30 pm will take place in
- Canowindra Age of Fishes Storage facility on Thursday 8 August. Bookings
- Orange Regional Museum Screening Room on Friday 9 August. Bookings
- Cowra Premier Cinema (at the Civic Centre) on Saturday 10 August. Bookings

Ecologies in the Landscape
Saturday 17.08.2019 and Sunday 18.08.2019
Local scientists Jo Lenehan and tutor Merran Esson supported by Alana Amadose from the National Art School will co-facilitate a weekend field-trip session identifying the health of soil, plant, and river ecologies situated along the Lachlan River at the CORRIDOR project at 2997 Darbys Falls Road, Wyangala.
Creative workshops will be accompanied by presentations on Saturday 17 August. Please note that the talks are free and bookings are required. Contact the CORRIDOR project by email

Botanical Galari (Lachlan River)
Sunday 11 August from 10.00am to 4.00pm
Participate in a botanical illustration and flower press making workshop for under 18s on the banks of the Lachlan River at the CORRIDOR project, 2997 Darbys Falls Road, Wyangala.
Facilitated by the CORRIDOR project’s Project Manager, Phoebe Cowdery, participants will harvest endemic grasses, will be shown how to make their own botanical press and, also be tutored in botanical illustration by renowned artist, Angus Fisher. Bookings

Sunday 24 August from 8pm to 10.00pm
Legendary Darbys Falls Astronomer Mark Monk and local DJ Craig Lawler, AKA the Professor, team up, presenting in collaboration for the Orange-Cowra-Cabonne Science Hub, an evening of stargazing and galactic music. Topics of discussion will include the Galaxy, and a beginners’ guide on how to best utilise your telescope, all accompanied by galactic-inspired music provided by the Professor.
Planet Organic will take place at Darby Falls Observatory, 23 Observatory Road, Darbys Falls on Saturday 24 August, the week after Science Week, to optimise viewing conditions. Bring warm clothes and $15 each for entry. Bookings
