Manly’s Seaweed Forests Festival runs from 9 April to 9 May 2021 and is a unique collaboration between the artists and Sydney Institute of Marine Science. The Festival invites the community to participate in a celebration of Australia’s remarkable underwater forests through engagement with science and the communicative power of art.
Participate in panel discussions, hands on restoration work, snorkelling tours, tastings of seaweed delicacies, and much more.
Held at Manly Art Gallery and Museum, the festival will feature scientists from the Sydney Institute of Marine Science, and a host of leading thinkers, including Professor Tim Flannery, all housed within a stunning art installation, ‘The Seaweed Arboretum’

Created by acclaimed Sydney artists Jennifer Turpin and Michaelie Crawford at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum, the Seaweed Arboretum represents the extraordinary world of our hidden underwater forests.
