As part of the NSW Government’s $2.8 billion COVID-19 Economic Recovery Strategy, the Holiday Break program seeks to offer young people in NSW a well-deserved break these summer holidays. Grants of up to $10,000 are also available to eligible not-for-profit organisations to provide recreational youth activities, events, services and programs for young people aged 12 – 24 in regional communities throughout 2022.
Provided through the Office for Regional Youth, Holiday Break activities must target one of the priority groups of young people identified below:
- Aboriginal young people
- Young people that are carers
- Culturally and Linguistically Diverse young people
- Young people from a refugee background
- LGBTIQA+ young people
- Young people living with a disability
- Disadvantaged and vulnerable young people.
Science and technology outreach providers are encouraged to apply!
Holiday Break is designed to support the wellbeing of young people from all backgrounds living in regional communities across the state.

What’s happening in the upcoming holidays?
There is plenty of free fun to be had across the regions this December and January, including BBQ and Beats events, sports and recreation camps, training courses and council-led youth activities and programs.
The Holiday Break program provides young people in regional NSW with the opportunity to participate in a range of free and subsidised activities to reconnect, socialise, learn new skills and have fun during the school holidays.
Among program offerings are:
🛶 Sport and rec camps
- 🎶 BBQ and Beats events
- ⚽ Sports activity days
- 👷♀️ Skills courses
- 🏊♀️ Free swimming lessons
