Use creative problem solving and design thinking skills to help astronauts survive on the Moon in the Australian Virtual Astronaut Challenge, an exciting learning program for Years 5-8 STEM enthusiasts and their teachers.
Comprising 6 x 1 hour weekly sessions delivered as home-learning lessons from Friday 8 October – Friday 12 November, this exciting STEM challenge is specifically suited to students studying STEM, Mandatory Technology, or for Primary Science and Technology lessons.
Students will join a team of astronauts in creating a family home outpost on the Moon. They will be challenged to survive, thrive and solve the problems that astronauts face, including by conducting an experiment, designing a device or an environment that can help them grow food on the Moon.
Participating students will use the iSTEM engineering design thinking process to complete the challenge and present a video that showcases their solution at the end of the program.
