Future Science Talks is back for 2024  with a new program for Sydney Comedy Festival in May.

Then join the Sydney Science Comedy Program by Future Science Talks. 

The EOI form has just opened and is available here It only takes 60-seconds to fill in.  Applications close on Friday 23 January.  Positions are filled on a first in, best dressed basis – so we do not recommend waiting until the last moment if you’re keen.

What is the program?

The program includes five workshops and a 10-minute talk at the Sydney Comedy Festival.

The talks are at the Factory Theatre and the Manning Bar in mid-May (additional info and dates are in the EOI link).

How does the program work?

The five workshops will cover all elements of impactful storytelling including how to increase your stage presence, reduce nerves and generate audience engagement.

You will also learn how to weave comedy techniques into your talks to help you to be more engaging in the workplace, when speaking with funding bodies, at conferences and when communicating with the public

Who should apply?

The program is for anyone working in science, technology or engineering research or an adjacent field.  Early to mid-career professionals are especially encouraged to join.

Previous program participants have included professionals from a wide array of sectors and organisations including science, tech, consultancy, non-profits, government and social sciences. 

This is a national program, with Sydney being the final program to open for 2024.

Who runs the program?

The program is run by Future Science Talks, which has received Inspiring Australia NSW support for running the Science Comedy Program in Newcastle and in Sydney. 

Future Science Talks runs Sydney’s only monthly pub talks where scientists and academics from all fields can speak to the audience about their expertise and latest endeavours.

The Science Comedy Program has been designed by the director of Future Science Talks, David Crisante, a public speaking trainer who was formerly a journalist, political speechwriter and head of media at numerous science and health organisations.
