The newly formed Northern Sydney Science Hub convened by CSIRO will host several public events in National Science Week 2017. Save the date for the Chatswood Science and Technology Expo on Saturday 12 August. Planned for delivery at Chatswood Library on the Concourse, the Expo will present a series of exhibitions, interactive displays and technology workshops.
The Science Hub will also host talks by local STEM professionals at various community venues around Northern Sydney, including in Chatswood, Gordon and the Northern Beaches. These free events throughout National Science Week will explore the use and impact of technology in the community.
Later in the year, the Science Hub plans to present more entertaining and memorable science activities that involve member organisations as part of a Spring into Science Festival. From September to November 2017, there will be a stellar line up of talks, debates, technology demonstrations, open days, astronomy nights and free activities in local parks and other Northern Sydney landmarks – with themes including science in marine and bushland environments, sustainability and the future of technology.
The Northern Sydney Science Hub comprises CSIRO, Willoughby City Council Library, Macquarie University, the Laboratories Credit Union, the National Measurement Institute, The Australian Astronomical Observatory, the Northern Beaches Council, scientist Yianni Mentis, Ku Ring Gai Council, Sydney Institute of Marine Science, Ku Ring Gai Council Library Network, Ryde Council and Chamber of Commerce and Mosaic Multicultural Centre.
