Showcase your science at the Innovation Games

Expressions of Interest are now invited from organisations wishing to participate in The Innovation Games at Sydney Olympic Park, on Sunday 18 August as part of Sydney Science Festival in National Science Week. This year’s family-friendly event is set to be huge and provides a unique opportunity to promote science and technology innovations, research and STEM education initiatives to the general public.

Building on the success of previous years, the 2019 Innovation Games will feature interactive displays, live stage shows, games and food with high engagement expected as we celebrate science and technology on the forecourt of GIANTS Stadium, leading up to GWS Giants vs Western Bulldogs AFL game that afternoon.

Previous years have attracted 10,000 people to this free, family-friendly event.

Who can participate?

The Innovation Games encourages participation from research organisations and businesses with an interest in STEM education. It’s free to get involved in this family free event designed to showcase why studies in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) can lead to the coolest jobs around.

There are all kinds of ways you can be involved in The Innovation Games, from hosting a challenge, presenting a stall, providing a speaker or delivering hands on activities or prizes.

Sport and STEM

The Innovation Games will present the Olympic Cauldron Pump Track, where everyone is invited to learn about the STEM in skate parks on scooters, skateboards or BMX. The physics and maths in BMX will also be demonstrated by experienced riders on the half-pipe. Other activations across the Games will look at the science behind kicking footballs, running and jumping.

Why participate?

Sydney Science Festival in National Science Week creates opportunities for Australians from all walks of life to have firsthand experiences of science and technology and to meet STEM experts working across diverse – and unexpected – fields.

The Innovation Games is expected to reach thousands of audience members and is a great platform for connecting STEM knowledge with the public.
