Coming to Sydney’s Carriageworks on 2-3 October, D61+ LIVE invites everyone to discover cutting-edge technology at a free showcase to connect with Australia’s innovation ecosystem and learn about the latest data science that is shaping our industries, experiences and society.
The world around us is changing, fast. Every sector of the global economy has been re-defined by digital disruption. Australia, like most countries, is witnessing unprecedented structural changes in its economy, industries and labour markets. But how can industries and businesses capitalise on this transformation? What are the implications of data and digital for our world?
Hosted by CSIRO’s Data61, the data and digital specialist arm of Australia’s national science agency, D61+ LIVE is a free two-day forum and exhibition designed to educate, inspire and accelerate our data-driven future. It will showcase 40+ data science and technology innovations and feature 50+ local and international speakers delivering an engaging thought leadership and masterclass program.
Program highlights
Digital innovation can deliver AU$315 billion in gross economic value to Australia over the next decade, making it a critical ingredient to the country’s — and indeed the world’s — ongoing economic success. But what are the imperatives for innovation? How does Australia stay relevant in a globally competitive market?
The Going Global panel featuring Innovation Science Australia, Austrade, WiseTech and CISCO will explore these big questions.
Professor
Genevieve Bell from the 3A Institute will discover what it means to be
human, and Australian, in a digital world and how Australia should build its
digital future and Dr Sue Keay, Research
Director at Data61 will interrogate the age of data and its implications in
her keynote.
You’ll
also hear from research experts on the latest developments in artificial
intelligence and machine learning, blockchain and cybersecurity including what
the future has in store, and the big research questions that remain.
Masterclass
series
Designed to kick-start or accelerate your data journey, and better prepare you for disruption, a masterclass program is also on offer that dives deeper into the tech trends and issues that are shaping our world.
The Gradient Institute will host a session on Building Ethical AI Systems focusing on the anatomy of ethically-aware decision-making systems providing some design principles to help data scientists, engineers and decision-makers collaborating to build them.
The Data61 Insight team will also be running a session on Data-Driven Strategic Foresight, an emerging field that aims to explore multiple plausible futures and help people and organisations make better choices. This masterclass is designed to give you a taste of how strategic foresight can help organisations navigate current and future strategic, policy and business dilemmas and build resilience in a rapidly changing and evolving operating environment.
