10 years of NSW Regional Science Hubs

Graphic '10 Years of Regional Science Hubs'

This year, Inspiring NSW celebrates 10 years of the NSW Regional Science Hub network!

In 2014, Inspiring NSW provided the first grants to community groups in regional NSW to develop new year-round science engagement programs. Ten years later, the Regional Science Hubs network remains strong and active. They are responsive to local needs, and develop creative and innovative programs that celebrate and champion science, and inspire the next generation of scientists.

More than 20 different Regional Science Hubs have provided stimulating science engagement to local communities in regional NSW over these years. We’ve trawled through our archives, and while it was very hard to only choose two or three events per Hub, here are some of the highlights of these diverse programs.

We’ve had a great response from our partners to the campaign. Thank you everyone!

Congrats to the 10 incredible years of Inspiring Australia NSW Regional Science Hubs! Inspiring NSW and then manager Jackie Randles gave me my first big break into hashtag#ScienceEngagement with their funding of Praxical‘s online STEM engagement programs that Bonnie Teece, Shane Hengst, PhD, and myself created during lockdown in 2020. It’s so hard getting funding for science engagement, let alone as a newly formed group, and it was a massive testament to Inspiring NSW’s commitment to supporting emerging communicators and creatives.
A huge thank you to Jackie Randles, Meredith Hall, and everyone who has been involved in Inspiring NSW’s program delivery, here’s to 100 more years of STEM engagement in the community!

Thank you for supporting science in regional Australia! It’s really important for regional people to have access to STEM opportunities, so that they can build the knowledge, skills and resources they need to apply scientific solutions to the challenges they face in their communities. I love this video!! Congratulations on all your hard work over the last ten years!
