They’re on the lookout for researchers and science professionals keen to share their work in creative, entertaining ways.
Since launching in 2023, over 350 researchers have joined the program—and loved the challenge! You’ll receive expert training in science communication, public speaking, and stage presence, with skills you can apply well beyond the spotlight.
Whether you’re new to science outreach or looking to push your boundaries, this is your chance to connect with audiences in a whole new way—and have a blast doing it.

Science After Dark: Science Questions Answered
When: Monday 11 August
Event time: 7pm-8:30pm
Commitment and requirements: In this event, you will be interviewed about your work (similar to a short live podcast) and answer questions from the audience. You’ll speak for approximately 20-minutes to a former journalist and science communicator. Participants in this show will receive free science presentation training from Future Science Talks.
Science After Dark: Improvised Science
When: Tuesday 12 August
Event time: 7pm-8:30pm
Commitment and requirements: In this event, you will give a short presentation about your work and will answer questions from comedians. Science After Dark: The Science Quiz Show
When: Wednesday 13 August
Event time: 7pm-8:30pm
Commitment and requirements: In this event, you will be in a team with other scientists (perhaps you can join with your friends!) to see whether you can guess whether science ‘facts’ presented by the host (a science comedian) are ‘true’ or ‘false’. You’ll have the opportunity to mess with the other team’s answer as you battle for points and science glory. Crowd participation is also encouraged. Participants in this show will receive free science comedy and presentation from Future Science Talks.
Science After Dark: The Great Science Debate
When: Thursday 14 August
Event time: 7pm-8:30pm
Commitment and requirements: In this event, you will be in a team with other scientists and will give a 7-10 minute talk where you will be discussing the merits of your field of science. The show will be moderated by a science comedian. This will be similar to previous science debates run by Future Science Talks. Participants in this show will receive free science comedy and presentation from Future Science Talks.
Science After Dark: Taboo Science Talks
When: Friday 15 August
Event time: 7pm-8:30pm
Commitment and requirements: In this event you will present a 10-minute talk about your area of expertise, which will be somewhat taboo. This show is adult-themed and may explore themes of psychology, criminology, psychedelics, AI, manufactured meat, genetic engineering and more. If your field of research pushes the boundaries, or if it makes others squirm or think about complex topics in a new way, then we’d love to hear from you! Participants in this show will receive free science comedy and presentation from Future Science Talks.
