Don’t miss your chance to be part of National Science Week at UOW, where curiosity ignites discovery.
Western Sydney University is engaging students and young adults in science experiences linked to sustainability, archaeology, botanical art, and the mathematics of nature. With hands-on activities and research-led discussions, this program brings STEM learning directly into the community
This National Science Week, Re-Gen Z Science brings a week of hands-on, expert-led activities to the Hawkesbury region, focused on sustainability and regenerative practices. From Monday 11 to Friday 15 August, students and community members can explore key environmental topics including water management, soil care, pollination, ecosystem restoration, and regenerative agriculture.
Each session includes live demonstrations, interactive discussions, and digital tools like GIS and AI to explore science-based solutions to real-world challenges.
University of Newcastle
The University of Newcastle, through its central and satellite campuses, is delivering a number of science outreach programs across the Hunter and Mid North Coast. These include science shows and interactive demonstrations that translate research into experiences suitable for school-aged children and their families.
University of Newcastle is celebrating it’s 60th anniversary in 2025. They are celebrating six decades of driving innovation, championing research, and preparing their region for the future. Their National Science Week event series reflects this ongoing commitment to exploration, impact, and inspiring the next generation of changemakers. There’s something for everyone to uncover.
Bushfires are no longer seasonal, they’re unrelenting. The reshape landscapes and our lives in a rapidly warming world.
In Fire Weather, award-winning Canadian author John Vaillant tells the gripping story of a city consumed by flame – a harbinger of what’s to come in a hotter, drier, more combustible world.
6:30 – 7:30pm Tuesday 12 August at the Science Theatre UNSW, Kensington
UNE Discovery will be out and about over the next two weekends bringing science to you in Armidale. There will be a pop-up science event at the Armidale Farmers Market on Sunday 10 August and Armidale Central on Saturday 16 Aug to celebrate National Science Week.
We’ll also be bringing our Imagination Playground (big, blue blocks) to Saturday’s outdoor event so bring your under 12’s for some creative building play!!
Knots are everywhere: in the strings of our DNA, in the structure of super-strong materials, and in mathematics, where knots lurk behind all three-dimensional shapes.
Graphs model social networks, transit maps, neural nets, and are one of the most basic objects in modern combinatorics.
5.30 – 7.30pm on Friday 15 August at the University of Sydney
Parasite Pandemic combines interactive science games and activities aimed at sparking interest in the study of parasites. It also aims to provide participants with insights into how scientists tackle global health challenges more broadly.
Are you ready to save humankind from a rapidly spreading parasite pandemic? Step inside the ‘A Race for the Antidote’ Escape Room; visit a Parasite Zoo packed with live and preserved specimens; identify and avoid parasitic infections through virtual reality; meet real-world parasitologists; and explore the fictional world of Manga characters with parasitic mutations.
Thursday 14 – Saturday 16 August at the Australian National University Kioloa campus
