What a week! National Science Week 2026 has officially wrapped up across New South Wales, leaving behind a trail of wonder, discovery and community connection. From coastal towns to outback communities and right through the heart of Sydney.

Across every corner of NSW, communities embraced the spirit of inquiry.

To understand the sheer scale of engagement this year, you only need to look at the numbers:

  • 871 Events held across the state
  • 662 Unique Event Locations hosting activities
  • Tens of thousands of participants engaging with science in their local communities

Whether it was a big outdoor event, a hands-on workshop in a regional library or trivia at you local pub, science met people right where they were.

The reach of this years events show that National Science Week is for everyone. From the South Coast to the North Coast and out to the Far West, community hubs, landcare groups, and local councils delivered incredible programming.

By empowering local leaders, National Science Week continues to show that science isn’t just confined to laboratories; it lives in our backyards, our bushland, our skies and our daily choices.

While National Science Week 2026 may be over, the journey of curiosity doesn’t stop here. The connections made, questions asked, and ideas sparked during this incredible week will continue to grow throughout the year.
