Two new funding programs have been announced to support students to participate in STEM related competitions and activities. Both the NSW Government and the Commonwealth are offering substantial help to Young Einsteins to take up local and international opportunities that will test their STEM credentials and boost Australia’s standing in science, engineering, technology and maths.
The NSW Government’s new Supporting Young Scientists Program offers grants to NSW high school students wishing to participate in STEM-related competitions, events or courses.
The first recipient is the brilliant Wollongong student and Sydney Science Festival Young Ambassador Macinley Butson (pictured), who is using the grant to help her attend a six-week course at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Funds available are $5,000 per student and up to $10,000 per team.
