University of Wollongong
The University of Wollongong continues to host a vibrant program of science outreach events and activities across its campuses. This year, UOW is also hosting the official NSW launch of National Science Week, alongside a diverse program of public lectures, panel discussions and community events.

What: Join theoretical astrophysicist and cosmologist Dr Luke A. Barnes for this year’s Einstein Lecture, exploring some of the biggest questions about the universe.
What: Presented by Science at the Local, this talk features Eli Bendall from the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, Western Sydney University, exploring why some places survive even the most devastating bushfires.
University of Newcastle
The College of Engineering, Science and Environment has another outstanding National Science Week program across Newcastle and its regional campuses. Highlights include astrophysicist Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith exploring the latest discoveries in astronomy and space exploration. University of Newcastle researchers will also be out in force at the popular Hunter Science Festival on 23 August.
The University of Sydney will launch a new public lecture series from the Faculty of Science during National Science Week. The Impact Factor: Matter of Origin explores some of humanity’s biggest questions—from how the Universe evolved to the spark that led to life on Earth. Just one of the fabulous events program, free and open to all.
UNSW Sydney has another exciting National Science Week program, with lively debates, hands-on events and opportunities to meet researchers. Explore the origins of life, dive into the wonders of our oceans, uncover the science behind Hollywood myths, or join UNSW researchers at Science in the Swamp and Science in the Scrub.
Inspiring NSW is pleased to support the UNE Discovery Voyager team with a grant for a series of free community events throughout National Science Week, including Pop-Up Science at local shopping centres, a trivia night and the Seeds of Science Art Competition.
