Sydney Olympic Park has launched Park LIVE in direct response to COVID-19 restrictions, to allow the public to continue to engage with the many unique and beautiful places, programs and people it loves at Sydney Olympic Park.
Park LIVE brings the Park to you, so you can learn and discover the unique wildlife and environments within Sydney Olympic Park, whether you’re a student, teacher or a family looking for new and fun discoveries. From virtual tours of the Park and unique wildlife snapshots to activities for all those mini park-rangers at home, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Virtual excursions
Sydney Olympic Park Authority is transforming the way curriculum-based education is delivered during this time by offering the full suite of school excursions, that are usually hands-on, field based programs, as live interactive virtual excursions. Excursions are available for classes from Kindergarten to Year 12 focused on Geography, Science, History and cross-curriculum priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander History and Cultures and Sustainability.
Sydney Olympic Park Authority CEO Sam Romaniuk said he was proud of his staff for their fast and innovative approach to supporting education and safe practice in the current climate.
Cultural activities
Park LIVE also allows everyone to soak up the culture of Sydney Olympic Park. You can take a virtual tour of our ARTEXPRESS exhibition of Yr12 students HSC artworks, or whizz around Art in the Park. You can be immersed in dances by Miriki Performing Arts and others at the Murama Dance Ground in full 360 degree video.
Brett Morgan, Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications said that Park LIVE has quickly emerged as an important piece of content.
“It’s proven to be highly engaging, and something that we see having a great deal of longevity after this period of social distancing and self-isolation. It puts the Park into people’s homes, regardless of whether or not they live close enough to visit regularly in person,” he said.
Park LIVE has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for people to gain access to all the wonderful and unique environments, culture, art, education and tours that are on offer at Sydney Olympic Park, whether they live close by or on the other side of the world.
The Park’s Education Team intends to apply the learning from Park LIVE’s development and growth to the delivery of an online festival for its annual Youth Eco Summits (Primary and Secondary), as well the Innovation Games for National Science Week in August.
Sydney Olympic Park will again celebrate the Innovation Games, but in an online environment this August as part of National Science Week 2020.
