New science podcasts

The work of more than 40 Australian researchers features in three brand new podcast series that will be launched with support from Inspiring Australia NSW as part of National Science Week.

Examine critical issues in ocean innovation with Idea Evolution, discover the inspiration that leads to studies in marine science with UNSW Coral Biologist Associate Professor Tracy Ainsworth in Deep blue on my doorstep and get behind the lens with microbiologists in Getting to Know Your Friendly Neighbourhood Microbiologist.

Idea Evolution podcast
Breathing underwater using a bell? Rowing a boat, but underwater? Saving lives with a sea sponge and poisonous snails?  Deep sea oil platforms and sunken ships the key to saving the ocean’s diversity? In National Science Week, a new podcast series will canvass these topics and more!

Deep blue on my doorstep
Discover research being undertaken in Australia by leading marine experts in a new podcast series produced and presented by UNSW Coral Biologist Associate Professor Tracy Ainsworth. Get to know the marine places on their doorsteps that have inspired them and how their love of these places has influenced their life’s work.

Meet the microbiologists
A new, microbiology-themed series of podcasts produced by the Joint Academic Microbiology Seminars called Getting to Know Your Friendly Neighbourhood Microbiologist will explore questions like: who are the researchers behind the microscope that society is placing their trust in understanding the new coronavirus and other widespread diseases? Where are the places to search for drugs and what are the challenges of vaccine and drug discovery and development? How are they trying to improve our lives, from health to environment, with their research?
